The Thunderbirds couldn't have been too comfortable after taking the early 1-0 lead in Sunday's match. UBC's
Katie Jameson pocketed her first of the match only 6 minutes in on a penalty corner. The early goal may have come as a bit of relief as the Birds dominated in offense the day before and were unable to convert.
The Vikes would tie the game early in the second half when #
Whitney Siegmann# converted on a penalty corner. With the game tied, both teams were pressing for the go-ahead goal.
UBC captain
Robyn Pendleton took the charge running the ball herself down the line and earning UBC the game-winning penalty corner. Jameson would convert the opportunity, her second of the match, after one-timing the ball out of the air at the near post.
The Vikes had another stellar performance from goalkeeper #
Kaitlyn Williams# who turned away several of UBC's scoring chances.
The loss brings the Vikes fourth in the race for the top two spots that go to the 2011 CIS National Championships. The Vikes will continue their road trip next weekend as they face the Alberta Pandas On Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 at 1:00 p.m.
