No. 6 nationally ranked Vikes prepare for pair in Prairies against Dinos, `Horns

Nov. 25: UVic at Calgary, 7 p.m. PST / Nov. 26: UVic at Lethbridge, 7 p.m. PST

The nationally No. 6 ranked UVic Vikes men's basketball teams closes out the 2011 portion of conference play with games against two teams at .500 or below but that does not make the road trip an easy one.

The Dinos (2-4), which lost their past two games to Regina (83-74 and 93-91 in double OT), are getting healthier after fighting through early season injury. Offensively, Calgary boasts Tyler Fidler who is averaging 14.2 points per game, good for 21st in the conference. Josh Wolfman is also a Dino to watch, tied for eighth in the Canada West averaging 7.7 rebounds per game.

Meanwhile the Pronghorns (3-3) have shown significant improvement in 2011-12. Despite losing their past two games to Saskatchewan (83-67 and 74-65), they are led by Derek Waldner, the sixth best rebounder in the conference averaging 7.8 boards per contest and Darryl Cooper who is posting 15.8 points per game to lead Lethbridge.

The Vikes (6-0) are one of only two undefeated teams left in the Canada West conference - No. 4 nationally ranked UBC is also at 4-0 and faces Lethbridge on Friday night and Calgary on Saturday as UVic's travel partner.

#Ryan MacKinnon# of Comox, B.C., continues to lead the Vikes in scoring with 22.2 points per game, third best in the conference.
