VICTORIA - The University of Victoria Vikes men's basketball team extended their Canada West streak to three wins with a 73-69 triumph to the Fraser Valley Cascades in Abbotsford, B.C. on Nov. 9.

“It was a good win for us against a quality team,” said Vikes head coach
Craig Beaucamp. “We had different contributions from different people tonight. We had one of our better games of the year, keeping them to a 35 per cent field goal percentage and only turning over the ball 12 times, which was key.”

Brin Taylor (Edmonton) contributing nine points, further showcasing the Vikes depth in scoring.
The Vikes were forced to contend with Cascades hot shooters
Kyle Grewal and
Kevon Parchment, who scored 23 and 20 points, respectively.
The Vikes trailed the Cascades 18-16 entering the second quarter but six different scorers helped get the Vikes on track to out-shoot the home side 21-19 in the second quarter. The game remained tied 37-37 entering the half.
The Cascades hit three key treys in the third quarter to keep up with the Vikes, who found themselves at the line enough to grab the 56-54 edge at the third-quarter break.
A quick lay up from McLaughlin and a free throw from Evans sealed the Vikes' fate for the evening with Evans finishing the fourth-quarter with eight of 17 points. The Vikes grabbed the 73-69 win over the Cascades to improve 3-0 in the Canada West.
“Terrell played well tonight offensively and guarded their best player, Kyle Grewal,” said Beaucamp. “Grewal got 23 points but is an exceptional player and Terrell ended up with 19 points himself. He did a lot for us but it really was a good team win.”
