Played out under radiant sunshine, the Canada West Bronze medal match was contested by the University of Fraser Valley and the University of Victoria in Vancouver. The Vikes opened the scoring between the two sides on a goal from
Cam Hundal, but would be unable to extend their lead. Two second-half goals by UFV would prove to be the difference in the match as the Vikes would fall in their final game of the 2013 season.

ROSTER
Â
Fraser Valley had the better of the opening exchanges and their best two opportunities of the half fell to Dalibor Plavsic. Fraser Valley broke quickly from inside their own half in the 22
nd minute and with only the one defender to beat Plavsic was unable to square the ball to teammate Ethan Collins who looked sure to score. He was next thwarted by a well-timed last ditch tackle from Victoria's
Toshi Hayashi just as he was releasing a shot inside the box.
Â
Victoria went back down the other end and it was only a superb sprawling save from the Cascades' keeper Mark Village that kept the scores level. The breakthrough didn't take long to come though as
Cam Hundal received the ball out on the right flank before dancing inside and releasing a drilled strike off his left foot to score in the 32
nd minute.
Â
The shots were 10-3 heading into the half-time break and while it was Victoria who had the numerical advantage, it was actually Fraser Valley that had the more clear-cut chances. The Cascades came out for the second 45 minutes clearly intent on equalizing, and just ten minutes into the second period Ethan Collins was played in by Connor O'Neill. With a glorious opportunity to equalize, Collins pulled his shot just wide.
Â
Hundal almost doubled the Vikes advantage in the 66
th minute when he got to the byline and attempted to pull the ball back towards goal but it was blocked by a Cascades defender.
Sam Prette picked up a yellow card in the following play for unsportsmanlike behavior away from the ball. As Fraser Valley pushed more and more players forwards in search of an equalizer they were almost undone by Victoria counter-attacks a couple of times.
Â
Fraser Valley drew themselves level in the 72
nd minute when Josh Brown's shot rebounded fortunately to Justin Sekhon who headed home from two yards out. The Cascades scored again only six minutes later when Ryan Liddiard surged forwards from left-back. He miscued his initial shot but this threw the defence and he capitalized on the defenders hesitation and skipped past them to put his shot low into the bottom right-hand corner.
Â
Victoria came right back at Fraser Valley and Vike's goalscorer
Cam Hundal kept the opposing keeper honest by forcing Village into two great diving saves in succession. It continued back and forth in the late stages, Justin Sekhon almost put the game to bed with a ferocious half-volley that flew inches over the bar.
Â
Prette's second yellow and resulting red card for a dangerous tackle in the 89
th minute complicated a possible comeback for the Vikes, who finished their season with an overall record of 11-5-1.
