The Vikes men are coming off a pair of wins over Mount Royal and Winnipeg last weekend, Sept. 13 and 15. The Vikes are currently 3-1-0 and tied with UBC for the top of the division, while the Spartans are fourth with a 1-3-0 record behind Fraser Valley (2-2-0). The Vikes opened their season with a tough 4-1 loss to the UBC Thunderbirds but have since bounced back to go undefeated, starting with their impressive 4-0 win over the spartans on Sept. 8.

To date, midfielder Cam Hundal has been the one to watch as the 2011 Canada West Rookie of the year has totalled four goals in as many games and was honoured as the Canada West's male Second Star of the Week for the past two weeks running. Three of Hundal's four goals have also been game winners.

Also leading the board for the Vikes is third-year midfielder Craig Gorman, who has posted two goals and two assists over the past four matches. The Hundal-Gorman Duo are familiar to Vikes fans, as the rookie pair at the time led the dynamic Vikes squad to their fifth CIS championship banner at Centennial Stadium in 2011.

Cam Stokes, Sam Prette and Kurt Macaulay have also established themselves as key players on the Vikes squad as all three have tallied goals and assists throughout the Vikes' three-game win streak. In goal, Elliot Mitrou has faced 33 shots and boasts a .588 save percentage after starting and playing all 360 minutes of the Vikes season.

This weekend the Vikes will face the talents of Dominic Reinold and Jarvis Ambaka up front for the Spartans, as well as keeper Evan Lowther who, despite the 4-0 margin, was pivotal in their previous match up. The Spartans have struggled after opening their season with a 2-1 win over the Fraser Valley Cascades. The Spartans enter this weekend looking to snap a three-game losing streak after facing losses to the Vikes and back-to-back losses to UBC.

As for the Thunderbirds, who dropped from the No. 1 seed to No. 4 this week on the CIS Top 10 polls, they will be looking to extend their two-game win streak through the talents of Canada West points leader Milad Mehrabi, who has three goals and two assists. In addition Navid Mashinchi and Reynold Stewart, also this week's conference First Star of the Week, are pivotal to the dominating UBC attacking play.

The Vikes will kick of this weekend at Centennial Stadium with Trinity Western on Sept. 20 at 7:15 p.m., while they face the Thunderbirds on Sept. 21 at 7:15 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live at http://canadawest.tv
