VICTORIA – A sea of white shirts will fill the stands of McKinnon Gymnasium as the No. 4 ranked Vikes open their Canada West post-season, hosting a best-of-three quarter-final series against fourth-place Prairie Division opponent Winnipeg Wesmen at McKinnon Gymnasium, Feb. 21-23.

The Vikes will host the Wesmen after finishing first in the Pacific Division with a 19-3 record, while the Wesmen posted a 14-8 record overall. Last weekend, Feb. 14-15 saw the Vikes handling the fourth-place T-Birds with ease, winning 82-65, Feb. 14 on home court before heading to UBC's War Memorial Gymnasium and capturing an 89-73 victory to end the regular season.
The Vikes have been led on offence by fifth-year senior
Terrell Evans (Las Vegas, NV), who ranks fourth in Canada West scoring, averaging 18.1 points-per-game. Teammate
Chris McLaughlin (Oakville, ON) has also been a strong contributor on offence, averaging 14.7 points and 8.2 boards per-game.
Cementing his spot among the No. 1-ranked scoring defense is third-year Vike
Reiner Theil (West Vancouver, B.C.). The 6-4 guard has been a workhorse for head coach
Craig Beaucamp, receiving the top defensive assignments throughout the season while averaging the most minutes played per-game for the Vikes (30.4).
The Vikes and Wesmen will tip off on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. and if necessary, the teams will decide their fate in a third match on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. All games will be at McKinnon Gym and streamed live at

The Wesmen enter the post-season after coming off a weekend split against the Manitoba Bisons that saw them falling 70-67, Feb. 13 on the road before returning home to close out their season with a 75-66 victory. The two teams met Nov. 23 at McKinnon Gym, where Vikes' Evans, McLaughlin and
Mack Roth led the offence in scoring en route to a 77-66 victory.
The two squads will once again meet at McKinnon Gymnasium, where the Vikes posted a 9-2 record during the regular season. Offensively, Winnipeg sits in eighth place in conference scoring, just below the seventh place Vikes. Senior Wesmen Steven Wesley leads his team on offence, averaging 17.3 points-per-game to place him seventh among Canada West scorers. Wesley also leads his squad with an average of 7.1 boards per-game.
