VICTORIA, B.C. - The University of Victoria Vikes dropped their second of three games on an eastern pre-season tour in Ontario against OUA competition on Friday, Oct. 23, losing 95-78 to the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Ont.

Vikes fifth year
Mack Roth shot 9-for-15 in the paint, 5-for-5 from the foul line and nailed his only attempted three-pointer in Friday's loss for the Vikes. Roth led the Vikes with 24 points in 32 minutes of playing time.
The Vikes improved as a team in many departments after their 99-69 loss against the Brock Badgers. The Vikes shot 50.8 per cent as a team from the field and conceded 10 turnovers, an improvement of 21 from their last outing. Four Vikes tallied double digit points totals.

The Marauders shot 55.9 per cent from the field and went 10-for-23 from beyond the three-point line. Leon Alexander led in the points department for the Marauders with 20 points – a total that was bolstered Alexander going 9-for-10 from the foul line.

"We had a much better effort today against a good McMaster team," said Vikes men's basketball head coach
Craig Beaucamp. "We made a lot of progress and there were many positives to take away. It's all about the process of getting better right now for us. The wins will begin to come if we stay on the right track."

The Vikes outscored the Marauders 49-44 in the second half, shooting 61.3 per cent.

The Vikes now travel to Guelph, Ont. to face the Guelph Gyphons to wrap up their eastern pre-season tour before heading to Oregon for the Quinn Classic Tournament Oct. 30-31.
