PREVIEW: Vikes travel to Prince George looking to keep their playoff hopes alive

Oct. 15-16: Victoria men's soccer @ UNBC Timberwolves (Prince George, B.C.)

Tale of the Weekend

VICTORIA— It's crunch time for the Vikes men's soccer team. With only four games left in the regular season the Vikes will head to Prince George to play back-to-back games against the UNBC Timberwolves October 15 and 16.

Both contests are scheduled for a 2:15 p.m. start.

This will be the first time that the Vikes play the Timberwolves this season and with both teams currently sitting on the outside looking in at the Pacific Division playoffs, the two games are sure to close contests.

UNBC came to Victoria for a pair of games last year. The Vikes took both contests by scores of 3-0 and 5-3.

Last Time Out

Both teams saw limited success last weekend.

The Vikes played a pair of games against the always strong UBC Thunderbirds and were able to pick up one point from the two games.

UVic lost to UBC in Vancouver in a close 3-2 game and were then able to rebound and scrape out a 0-0 draw against UBC in Victoria.

The Timberwolves played two games at home against UBC Okanagan. The team from Prince George lost the first game 2-0 but were able to shutout UBCO 3-0 in the second game.

By the Numbers

11: The two teams are tied for 11th place out of the 14 teams in Canada West.
6: The number of points that both teams need to make-up on the teams ahead of them to move into the playoffs.
22: The number of different Vikes that have played in a regular season game so far this year.

Coach's Take
Bruce Wilson, Vikes head coach

"We've gotten better and better as the season goes on. With four games left to play we are looking at hopefully coming away with at least 12 points which would put us right in the mix. My concern on this trip north is that we put out the strongest team possible and that we come away with two wins."

"Throughout our whole season, starting in the pre-season I give the players full credit, they have all given us a full effort."
