Tale of the Weekend
The Vikes men's soccer team will look to keep the ball rolling and add to their only win of the season when they host the University of Winnipeg Wesmen as well as the University of Alberta Golden Bears this coming weekend.
The Wesmen come to Centennial Stadium September 16, while the Golden Bears will be in Victoria September 17. Both games are scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.
The last time the Vikes faced the Wesmen was over three years ago. The Vikes took that contest 4-2 in Manitoba.
It was also three years ago that the Vikes faced the Golden Bears, they dropped that game by a score of 2-0. Only five Vikes remain from the team that played against the Wesmen and the Golden Bears.
Last Time Out
The Vikes had an up and down weekend last time out. They scored the first win of their young season against the UFV Cascades 2-1. The next day the Vikes fought hard but were in tough against the number 6 ranked team in the country the TWU Spartans. The Spartans won the game 2-1.
Winnipeg continued their current slide over the weekend. With their losses to Mount Royal they have now lost four games in a row and sit at (0-4-1) on the season.
The Golden Bears meanwhile, are a team headed in the right direction. With their wins over Lethbridge and Saskatchewan they remain at a perfect (6-0-0) on the season and are ranked as the number 3 team in the nation.

"They're both very decent teams. This weekend will not be easy. We've been forced to use young players throughout the season and in some cases they have done very well and in some cases it's just going to take more time."
"Our goal is to make the playoffs. That's possible, we could still do that. It all depends on how our players progress."
