Tale of the Weekend
VICTORIA – A pair of games against the No. 5 ranked team in the nation are ahead for a UVic Vikes men's soccer team that is looking to get back to their winning ways after stumbling on the Prairies last weekend.
Playing the UBC T-Birds at home on Oct. 5 at 5:30 p.m., before travelling to Vancouver for the return game on Oct. 7 at 2:15 p.m., the Vikes will be trying to earn crucial points in an extremely close race for the playoffs in the Pacific Division of Canada West soccer.
Earning those points won't be easy however, the T-Birds are currently 6-2-1 on the season and sit in first place in the Pacific Division.
These two teams met twice last season with the T-Birds defeating the Vikes 3-2 in Vancouver before UVic bounced back to earn a 0-0 draw in Victoria.
Last Time Out
A rough outing in Saskatchewan resulted in a 6-0 loss for the Vikes as they saw their three-game winning streak snapped by the Huskies last weekend.
The T-Birds picked up a split of the weekend in Prince George, losing 1-0 to UNBC before bouncing back with a 4-1 win against those very same Timberwolves just a day later.
By the Numbers
7: Victory Shumbusho is one to watch for UBC, the first-year forward leads the conference in goals scored.
34: Isaac Koch continues to look threatening for the Vikes, he has the second most shots on goal in the conference.
