Box Score WINNIPEG- The University of Victoria Vikes salvaged a weekend split with a victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen by a final score of 75-72 on Oct. 27.
The Vikes dropped their season opener the previous night to the same Winnipeg Wesman by a score of 93-84.
Wesmen guard Narcisse Ambanza hit a three-pointer with seven seconds but the Vikes'
Scott Kellum answered, drilling a three-pointer on the other end as the clock ticked to zero to give Victoria their first win of the 2018-19 Canada West season.
The Vikes led by as many as 19 in the first half, but the Wesmen chipped away in the third quarter with a 13-2 run to start the half. Winnipeg took a brief lead in the fourth quarter, going ahead 61-60 on a Sean Tarver three with 4:17 to go.
Jason Scully led the way for the Vikes, scoring a team-high 16 points off the bench.
Jordan Charles chipped in with 12 points and
Mason Loewen contributed with a team-high five assists to go along with six points.
Victoria will head back to B.C. for a pair of games against provincial rival, the UBC Thunderbirds, on Nov. 1 and Nov. 3.
