Langley, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's basketball team dropped a pair of tight contests to Trinity Western University, Nov. 12-13. After a losing by one, 53-52, Friday night, the Vikes fell, 68-62, Saturday afternoon.
Game one: Trinity Western 53, Victoria 52

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter – TWU 12, UVic 10
- The Vikes would be the first on the scoreboard, coming by way of a three-pointer by Ashlyn Day. However, the Spartans took the next nine points for the 9-3 lead.
- Sierra Reisig would put a stop to TWU's run, sinking a three with under five minutes to go to make the cut the host's lead to three, 9-6.
- The Spartans would maintain the lead for the remainder of the quarter, holding a two-point, 12-10 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.
2nd Quarter – TWU 22, UVic 21
- A jumper from Karsen Look tied the game, 12-12, in opening seconds of second frame.
- After nearly three minutes of neither side scoring, UVic would go ahead, 15-12, on a three from Day with 6:40 to go.
- At the buzzer, Calli McMillan would drain her jump shot to pull the Vikes within one, 22-21.
3rd Quarter – UVic 39, TWU 37
- After her halftime buzzer-beating shot, McMillan would put UVic ahead, 23-22, to open the third quarter.
- After trading baskets, Day would put the Vikes ahead with 23 seconds remaining in the quarter, 39-37.
- Staying even throughout the 10 minutes of play, neither side had a lead greater than three during the third quarter.
4th Quarter – TWU 53, UVic 52
- Continuing the fourth like they played the third, the Vikes and Spartans kept the scoreboard tight through the first six minutes of the final quarter.
- With just under four minutes remaining, TWU would take a six-point lead, 53-47, which the Vikes would cut to one, 53-52, with 1:30 left to play.
- Getting the ball back with 23 seconds on the clock, the Vikes were unable to make their final attempts and ultimately fell to Trinity Western, 53-52.
WORTH NOTING
- Day and Tana Pankratz posted double-digit scoring performances for the Vikes, at 21 and 10 points, respectively.
- Brooklyn White led the way rebounding, picking up nine boards.
- The Vikes are 0-2 against the Spartans this season, losing an overtime heartbreaker, 73-66, Oct. 29, and tonight's one-point game.
Game two: Trinity Western 68, Victoria 62

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter – TWU 14, UVic 12
- The Spartans would take 6-0 lead to start the game, resulting in a Victoria timeout. Following the break, the Vikes took next four to pull within two, 6-4, with just under six minutes to go in the opening quarter.
- Karsen Look gave the Vikes the 11-10 lead with just under two minutes to go in the first.
- Two quick baskets by the Spartans in the last 30 seconds gave TWU the 14-12 lead to end the quarter.
2nd Quarter – TWU 31, UVic 25
- TWU in control to start the second, the Spartans increased their lead to double-digits, 31-20, with two minutes to play in the half.
- Tana Pankratz stole the ball from TWU, proceeding to make the breakaway layup and free throw on the and-one to pull the Vikes back within six, 31-25, at the end of the half.
3rd Quarter – UVic 43, TWU 42
- An eight-point run from UVic would pull the game event at 36 with 6:30 to play.
- Back-and-forth with several lead changes over the final five minutes, a pair of free throws from Pankratz would give the Vikes the 43-42 lead at the end of the third.
4th Quarter – TWU 68, UVic 62
- Continuing to trade baskets, the Vikes would breakaway to take a six-point lead, 60-54, with four minutes to play.
- TWU would respond with 11 unanswered points to take the lead, 65-60, with 15 seconds to play.
- Calli McMillan would make a layup to pull the Vikes back within three, 65-62, but it would not be enough as free throws from the Spartans would seal their win, 68-62.
WORTH NOTING
- McMillan led the Vikes with 19 points on the night, adding four assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
- Pankratz and Ashlyn Day added double-figure scoring performances, with 14 and 12, respectively.
- Brooklyn White led the Vikes in rebounds for the second-straight night, with eight.
- The Vikes drop to 0-3 against Trinity Western this season, and 2-4 overall.
