VICTORIA – After unbeaten opening weekends to the 2021 campaign, the University of Victoria men's and women's soccer teams hit the road to take on the University of the Fraser Valley for a weekend series, Sept. 17-19.

- The women's side heads in to the weekend ranked No. 6 in the first U SPORTS top 10 poll of the season. In Canada West play, the Vikes sit tied for the top of the west division with UBC and Trinity Western, with all three teams holding 2-0-0 records.
- The men's team sits atop the Canada West west division standings after its unbeaten weekend against UNBC, currently holding a record of 1-0-1.
- The Vikes men's scoring efforts were led by a pair of two-goal performances from Jose Sagaste and Harrison Ritter West.
- Combining for eight goals over its opening two games, the women's squad had a different scorer for each goal to open the season.
- Finding early momentum both times, the women's team scored two goals in the opening 10 minutes of play in both contests to open the 2021 season last weekend.

WHO TO WATCH
- Following his two-goal performance against the Timberwolves that aided the UVic comeback, Ritter West was tabbed the Canada West men's soccer Player of the Week for his efforts.
- Leading the Vikes to their season-opening win, Sagaste scored both goals for UVic against UNBC, Sept. 10.
- Keeper Kayley Lidstone notched a clean sheet during her opening weekend, shutting out UNBC in a 5-0 Vikes win, Sept. 11.
- While the women's squad has seen a different goal scorer every time, Emma Skalik leads the team in points (3) after scoring a goal in the season-opener, Sept. 10, and notching two assists over two games against the Timberwolves.
