Vikes shutout Wolfpack in Friday night win
Final Score: UVic 1, TRU 0 – September 24, 2021

VICTORIA – Putting an end to their scoring drought, the University of Victoria women's soccer team shut out Thompson Rivers University, 1-0, Friday night, Sept. 25, at Centennial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
15th Minute - UVic 1, TRU 0
  • After a Kyra Teetzen corner kick was corralled by a TRU defender, Dari Coté managed to intercept their ensuing pass at the top centre of the box, sending a strike past the Wolfpack's keeper to put the Vikes in front.

  • Coté broke UVic's scoring drought, which was at 227 minutes and included both games at the University of the Fraser Valley, Sept. 17-19.
  • Goalkeeper Kayley Lidstone has recorded a clean sheet in four-of-five games played so far this season, with all four coming consecutively (Sept. 11 vs. UNBC, Sept. 17 & 19 at UFV, and Sept. 24 vs. TRU).
  • Defensively talented, the Vikes have kept their opponents scoreless for 446 consecutive minutes, dating back to the fourth-minute goal scored by UNBC, Sept. 10.
  • UVic's back line held strong in their first meeting with the Wolfpack, only allowing three shots on the night. In addition, Lidstone's one save did not come until the 81st minute.

Vikes cruise past Wolfpack to sweep series
Final Score: UVic 2, TRU 0 - September 25, 2021

VICTORIA - A two-goal night was enough to propel the University of Victoria women's soccer team past Thompson Rivers University, 2-0, Sept. 25 at Centennial Stadium to give the Vikes the weekend sweep over the Wolfpack.

HOW IT HAPPENED
26th Minute - UVic 1, TRU 0
  • Just like Friday's game, the sequence started with a corner kick by Kyra Teetzen. After bouncing off both Vikes and Wolfpack players in the box, Tess Vande Vegte slipped the ball to Emma Skalik, who netted her second goal of the season on a shot to the back right of goal.
64th Minute - UVic 2, TRU 0
  • Both creeping in on the six-yard box, Vande Vegte found Trinity Kettyls, who struck it past the TRU goalkeeper for her second goal of the season.
