VICTORIA – The defending Canada West and U SPORTS National Champion University of Victoria women's field hockey team opens its 2021 season hosting the first Canada West round robin tournament of the season, Oct. 1-3, on the UVic Field Hockey Turf.

FAST FACTS
- The Vikes open the 2021 season hosting UBC and Calgary for the first-of-two Canada West round robin tournaments of the season.
- The tournament will see every team play each other twice, with the format being composed of two games each day.
- The reigning Canada West and U SPORTS champions return a core of experience in 2021, including fourth-year goalkeeper Robin Fleming, who led Canada West with a .63 goals against average in 2019.
- UVic also returns its two leading scores from 2019 in Erin Dawson and Janet Dawson, who each tallied two goals.
- In addition, Victoria sees seven-of-nine of its 2019 goal scorers back on the pitch in 2021.
