Vancouver, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's field hockey team defeated the University of British Columbia, 4-0, Oct. 22 at Wright Field to open the two-game series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
2nd Quarter – UVic 1, UBC 0
- Awarded a penalty corner in the 25th minute, Erin Dawson connected to send it to the back of the net for the 1-0 Vikes lead before the half.
4th Quarter – UVic 4, UBC 0
- Scoring her first-of-two on the afternoon, Anna Mollenhauer doubled the Vikes' lead on a penalty corner in the 53rd minute.
- Six minutes later, Mollenhauer added a second goal via penalty corner to make it 3-0 Vikes in the 59th minute.
- Adding an insurance goal in the final minute of play, Chloe Langkammer sent the ball past the UBC goalkeeper in the 60th minute to finalize the score at 4-0 in favour of the Vikes.
WORTH NOTING
- Mollenhauer's two goals brought her season goal total to six, eclipsing her 2021 season total (4).
- Langkammer's goal marked her ninth of the year, marking the most on the Vikes and the most of any player in Canada West.
- Dawson recorded her third goal of the season in the win.
- Daya Shields and the Vikes' defence posted the team's fifth shutout of the season.
- The Vikes remain unbeaten at 6-0-1 with the win, while UBC falls to 4-2-1 with the loss.
