Vikes win four bronze medals on day one of Canada West Championships

Lethbridge, Alta. – The University of Victoria swimming teams secured four medals on the first day of the Canada West Swimming Championships, Nov. 25 at the Max Bell Aquatic Centre.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Yasmin Perry claimed the Vikes' first medal of the meet, winning the bronze in the 50 fly with a time of 27.46.
  • Adding a bronze medal in the 50 breast was Erin Epp, who took third place with a 31.87 performance, and was followed closely by Sophie Tarrant who finished the event in fourth place with a time of 31.95.
  • The women's relay team of Amanda McCallum, Tarrant, Cameron Hill, and Emma Cabral earned a podium finish in the 800 free relay with a third-place, 8:22.36 showing.
  • Matching the women's 800 free relay finish, the Vikes' men's squad of Padric Mckervill, Maxwell Fang, Ricky Millns, and Jacob Rambo won the bronze medal with a time of 7:26.14.
  • Narrowly missing the podium in the 1500 free, William Risk finished in fourth place with a time of 15:35.25. 
  • Cameron Laturnus earned his first career U SPORTS qualifying mark, swimming the 50 breast in 28.75 to achieve the cut.
