Edmonton, Alta. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team fell to the University of Alberta, 2-0, Sept. 18 at Foote Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
32nd Minute – ALB 1, UVic 0
- A Golden Bears corner kick resulted in a header goal to give the hosts the lead.
40th Minute – ALB 2, UVic 0
- Awarded a penalty kick after a handball was called on the Vikes inside the box, Alberta scored on the attempt to seal the win.
WORTH NOTING
- Alberta was shown a red card in the 47th minute and had to play a man down for the majority of the second half.
- The Vikes finished with the 14-10 advantage in shots, but were edged in shots on goal by the Bears, 6-4.
- Archie Tugwell led the offensive attempts for the Vikes, tallying three shots, one of which was on target. Four Vikes each finished with two shots in Aiden Taylor, Javier Sagaste, Yassin Guitouni and Nick Park.
- Harjot Nijjar finished with four saves for Victoria.
- With the win, Alberta remains unbeaten at 3-0-4, while the Vikes fall to 2-4-2 in Canada West play.
