Calgary, Alta. – Earning a hard-fought point on the road, the University of Victoria women's soccer team finished in a 1-1 draw with the University of Calgary, Sept. 23 at Dinosaur Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
49th Minute – UVic 1, CGY 0
- Coming out of the break, Emma Skalik punted the ball to Trinity Kettyls across the centre line. Taking a few dribbles, Kettyls approached the top right side of the box and launched a high-arcing shot which found its way to the back left corner of the net to put the Vikes on top.
71st Minute – UVic 1, CGY 1
- Finding the Vikes' blindspot inside the six-yard box, the Dinos slipped a shot over the line to equalize.
WORTH NOTING
- Kettyls' goal marked her first of the season. The fifth-year also put all three of her shots on target for UVic.
- Skalik recorded her second assist of the year during the game. Her two assists now lead the Vikes.
- Both Kayley Lidstone and the Calgary goalkeeper finished with 11 saves.
- Calgary finished with the 21-17 advantage in shots, 13-12 edge in shots on goal and 3-2 lead in corners.
- The Vikes' 17 shots and 12 shots on goal match the team's season-highs, both set at Winnipeg, Sept. 17.
- Victoria now sits at 2-4-2 on the year, while Calgary moves to 4-2-1.
