- Holding a 10-2 record and the No. 2 spot in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings, the Vikes men's basketball team is coming off 82-78 and 91-67 wins over Regina, Jan. 6-7.
- The Vikes women sit at 4-8 on the season, most recently falling on the road, 89-63 and 78-72 to Regina, Jan. 6-7.
- The UNBC men hold a 5-5 record through 10 games, opening 2023 with back-to-back losses at Manitoba, 98-87 and 80-70, Jan. 6-7.
- The Timeberwolves' women's side improved to 3-7 on the year after a series win over Manitoba, 85-49 and 82-69, Jan. 6-7.
- Diego Maffia leads the Vikes and ranks second in Canada West with a 23.6 points per game average, while Dominick Oliveri leads Victoria and the conference with a 13.4 rebounds per game average.
- Ashlyn Day and Brooklyn White lead the Vikes in points per game and rebounds per game, respectively, at 19.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Day's scoring average ranks third in Canada West.
- Saturday will mark the Vikes' annual Shoot for the Cure game. The 5 p.m. women's contest will feature the return of "stats for the cure," where corporate and other interested donors can pledge for made three-point shots, total rebounds and team assists. The 2021 edition of stats for the cure raised $15,200 of the record-breaking $29,200 amount.
