Vikes blank Cascades on the road

Abbotsford, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's soccer team came away with a 3-0 shutout win over the University of the Fraser Valley, Oct. 13 at Rotary Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first half of play, the Vikes broke through in the 67th minute, with Adrianna Hilton's corner kick finding Erin Jensen's head, sending the ball to the back of the net for the 1-0 lead in the 67th minute.
  • Adding an insurance goal in the 75th minute, Brianne McLeish ran with the ball into the box, firing off her shot between the two oncoming defenders and around the diving UFV keeper for the 2-0 Vikes advantage.
  • A stoppage time screamer from Isabella Paccani off of a deflection by the Fraser Valley defender sealed the Vikes' win, 3-0.
WORTH NOTING
  • The shutout marked the fifth of the season for Kayley Lidstone and the Vikes' defence.
  • Lidstone recorded six saves in the win.
  • The Vikes finished with the 14-7 advantage in total shots, 11-6 edge in shots on goal and 7-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
  • Victoria improves to 7-4-2 with the win, while UFV moves to 5-5-3 with the loss.
  • The seven wins on the season mark the most for Vikes since 2019 season, posting eight wins during that conference campaign.
