VICTORIA – The University of Victoria men's soccer team closed its 2023 home slate with a 1-0 win over Thompson Rivers University, Oct. 14 at Centennial Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Finding the back of the net in the 15th minute, a cross from Jordan Mckinty went to Aiden Grew's foot and straight to Matthew Pearse on the other side of the six-yard box, who sent it to the back of the net for game-winner and1-0 Vikes lead.
- The Vikes would hold off the WolfPack for the remaining 75 minutes to complete the 1-0 shutout.
WORTH NOTING
- Pearse's goal marks his fifth of the season.
- Callum Weir tallied three saves en route to the team's seventh shutout of the year.
- UVic out-shot TRU 12-6 overall and 6-3 in shots on target.
- The Vikes sit at 9-3-2 on the season with the win, while the WolfPack drop to 6-7-1 with the setback.
