Thunderbirds hold off Vikes

VICTORIA – A comeback effort from the University of Victoria men's soccer team fell just short, with the University of British Columbia coming away with a 2-1 win to remain undefeated, Oct. 7 at Centennial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UBC struck first, putting a goal on the board in the 21st minute to take a 1-0 lead, which the Thunderbirds would carry into the halftime break.
  • Doubling their lead in the 48th minute, the 'Birds went ahead 2-0 on a successful penalty kick.
  • Finding a response in the 65th minute, Harry Ritter West crossed the ball from the left side to Mattheus Achadinha in the middle of the box, who in turn sent it to the back of the net to bring the Vikes back within one, 2-1.
  • Unable to find an equalizer, the Thunderbirds held on for the 2-1 win.
WORTH NOTING
