Burnaby, B.C. – The University of Victoria women's rowing team came away with three gold medals at the Western Canadian University Rowing Championships, Oct. 7 on Burnaby Lake.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maggie Hemphill claimed the first gold of the day for the Vikes in the 1x, winning the race with a time of 8:33.05.
- The duo of Paige Letham and Sophia Regosa captured the lightweight 2x crown with a final time of 7:46.18 for the win.
- Claiming a lightweight 4+ gold with a time of 7:44.12 was coxie Helen Ross along with Sai Sai Faubert, Abby Simpson, Letham, and Regosa.
- Victoria added runner-up finishes in the 2- A Final, lightweight 1x, and lightweight 2x.
- UVic faced competition from the University of British Columbia, Washington State University, and the Simon Fraser University rowing club.
