Calgary, Alta. – The University of Victoria women's soccer team fell to Mount Royal University, 2-0, Oct. 7 at the MRU Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A second-minute goal by the Cougars put the home side ahead, 1-0. MRU would take its lead into halftime.
- Mount Royal added a second goal in the 72nd minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Vikes would not be able to find a response, finalizing the win for the Cougars.
WORTH NOTING
- The loss marks just the second time this season the Vikes have been shutout by an opponent.
- Emma Skalik led the Vikes with three shots on the day, two of which were on target.
- Kayley Lidstone finished with two saves in goal.
- Victoria out-shot Mount Royal 11-6 overall, while shots on goal were tied, 4-4. The Vikes finished with a 10-5 edge in corner kick opportunities.
- The Vikes move to 6-4-2 on the season with the setback, while the Cougars improve to 4-4-3 with the win.
