Toronto, Ont. - University of Victoria field hockey first-year
Rebecca Stone has been named the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, while teammates
Libby Hogg and
Anni Kleinschmidt have been tabbed All-Canadians by the national association, Nov. 2.
Stone becomes the sixth Vike to earn U SPORTS Rookie of the Year honours, and first since teammate
Chloe Langkammer won the accolade in 2021. Also named the Canada West Rookie of the Year, Stone has started every game for the Vikes in a central midfield position, proving she is a versatile player with a high field hockey IQ in helping the Vikes to their fifth-straight conference title in 2023.
A third-year defender for the Vikes, Hogg earns her first U SPORTS All-Canadian recognition. Receiving her third nod to the Canada West All-Star team in 2023, Hogg scored two goals in eighth starts for Victoria.
Kleinschmidt, a fourth-year midfielder, tallied one goal for UVic in the regular season and started all eight games for the Vikes. This is her first selection to the U SPORTS All-Canadian team.
The Vikes take on the University of Toronto in a best-of-three series at the U SPORTS Championships, Nov. 3-5.
