Calgary, Alta. – The University of Victoria men's soccer team recorded its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 to Mount Royal University, Sept. 16 at the MRU Soccer Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mount Royal opened the scoring in the 34th minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Cougars added a second goal right before the halftime whistle, taking a 2-0 lead into the break.
- The Vikes kept the Cougars scoreless in the second half, but couldn't find a goal of their own in the final 45 minutes of play, resulting in a 2-0 win for MRU.
WORTH NOTING
- Callum Weir tallied a season-high seven saves in net for the Vikes.
- Mount Royal finished with the 18-9 advantage in shots, as well as 9-3 edge in shots on goal.
- The Vikes move to 3-1-1 after the first loss of the year, while Mount Royal improves to 5-1-0 with the win.
