Saskatoon, Sask. - The University of Victoria men's soccer team claimed a point on the road, battling the University of Saskatchewan to a 1-1 finish, Sept. 17 at Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Huskies got on the board first, scoring in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
- Yassin Guitouni responded for the Vikes in the 37th minute with the equalizer, using his head to connect with a free kick by Jimmy Steel to pull the score even, 1-1.
- Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the second half, recording the final score as 1-1.
WORTH NOTING
- Guitouni's goal marked the first of his Vikes career.
- Callum Weir recorded five saves in goal for Victoria.
- Saskatchewan finished with a 14-9 advantage in total shots, but both sides ended with six shots on target.
- The Vikes sit at 3-1-2 after the draw, while the Huskies move to 1-3-2 on the year.
