VICTORIA – The University of Victoria men's soccer team shutout the University of Northern British Columbia, 2-0, Sept. 29 in the first-of-two games at Centennial Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Awarded a penalty shot after a foul in the box, Javier Sagaste stepped up to the line and fired a shot straight to the back of the net for the 1-0 Vikes lead in the 39th minute.
- In a repeat performance during the 66th minute, Sagaste stepped up to the spot when a penalty shot was awarded in UVic's favour, sending the ball past the UNBC goalkeeper to seal the Vikes' win, 2-0.
WORTH NOTING
- Callum Weir and the Vikes' defence posted their fourth shutout of the season.
- Sagaste scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season, marking a new career-high for goals in a season for the fourth-year.
- The Vikes out-shot the Timberwolves 14-5 overall and 8-1 in shots on target.
- Victoria moves to 6-1-2 on the season with the win, while UNBC drops to 2-6-2 with the loss.
