VICTORIA – The University of Victoria men's basketball team is pleased to announce The Puerto Vallarta International Basketball Classic, set to take place Oct. 11-13 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
 
The tournament, featuring four Canadian University teams and four Mexican teams, is being hosted by the Vikes, and organized in conjunction with experienced tournament organizer and two-time Olympian Howard Kelsey, who is no stranger to the Mexican sport landscape.
 
All tournament games will be played at the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Gymnasium, while teams will be staying at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Centre, the tournament's host hotel.

The Escuderos Basketball Academy is also offering a unique Girls and Boys Youth Basketball Camp and training sessions in conjunction with the event, with all camp participants and their families receiving access to attend every game. Camps are taking place Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5-9 p.m., and ahead of the games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Oct. 11-13 at the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Gymnasium. 
 
"We are very excited to showcase our team and players internationally," said Vikes head coach Murphy Burnatowski. "This experience will be one our guys will remember and we are extremely grateful to Howard Kelsey for helping organize this exciting event."
