Late run gives UBC double-digit lead after one quarter
- The Vikes took a quick 4-0 lead to open the game on layups from Mimi Sigue and Karis de Paiva in the first minute. However, the Thunderbirds would score eight unanswered to take an 8-4 lead.
- Back-to-back Abigail Becker layups brought the Vikes back within two, 12-10, but UBC followed with five-straight points for a seven-point lead, 19-12, with three and a half minutes to go in the first quarter.
- Though the Vikes managed to stay within about five points for most of the first quarter, the Thunderbirds ended the frame on an 8-2 run to hold a 27-16 lead after the opening 10 minutes of play.
Vikes outscore 'Birds in second quarter
- Though UBC's lead grew slightly to start the second quarter, layups from Sigue and Tegan Michel cut the Thunderbirds' lead back down to single digits, 34-26, with four and a half minutes to go until halftime.
- A Makena Anderson bucket and Becker layup and free throw pulled Victoria within six, 37-31, with 11 to seconds to play, but UBC would score in the final seconds to bring their lead to 39-31 at halftime.
- The Vikes outscored UBC 15-12 in the second quarter, marking the fewest points allowed to the Thunderbirds in any quarter this weekend.
Defence keeps Vikes in the fight despite scoring drought
- The Vikes were hit by a scoreless stretch to open the third quarter, allowing UBC to go up 48-31 before a Natalie Allison layup put the Vikes on the board at the halfway mark of the period, 48-33.
- Victoria scored the final four points of quarter with buckets from Becker and Anderson, bringing the score to 56-42 in favour of UBC at the end of the third.
- Despite the scoreless open to the half, the Vikes' defensive effort ensured UBC's lead grew by only six overall.
Vikes hold 'Birds to 12 in final quarter
- The Vikes held UBC to just 12 points in the fourth quarter. However, only able to score 11 of their own, the Vikes fell to the Thunderbirds, 68-53.Â

- Abigail Becker posted a double-double effort with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
- Mimi Sigue led the Vikes in scoring for the second-straight night, recording 12 points. She added six rebounds, two steals, and one block.
- Meike Boerstra led the Vikes with three steals, adding five rebounds, two assists, and two points in 16 minutes.
- The Vikes now hold a 3-3 record on the year, while UBC remains undefeated at 6-0.Â
