Toronto, Ont. – The University of Victoria women's field hockey team will play for its sixth-straight U SPORTS national title after a 3-0 shutout of York University, Nov. 2 to close round robin play at the U SPORTS Field Hockey championships.

Mittelsteadt scores in opening frame
- Madeline Mittelsteadt opened the scoring for the Vikes in the eighth minute. After a scramble in front of the net sent the ball out left, Mittelsteadt got her stick on it to redirect it back over the line and in for the 1-0 Vikes lead.
Kleinschmidt connects on corner to double Vikes' lead
- A Vikes corner in the 19th minute resulted in a 2-0 lead, with Anni Kleinschmidt receiving the injection near the top of the circle. Taking one step towards the net, Kleinschmidt fired her shot straight to the back of the net for the 2-0 Vikes lead, which would remain in place through halftime.
Vikes seal win in third quarter
- Adding a goal to the Vikes' lead out of the halftime break, a well-executed play from the Vikes saw them move the ball from a left side inbound to Amanda Adams near the top of the circle on the right side. Adams fired a long shot that went straight past the York goalkeeper to hit the back of the net and put the Vikes in front with a 3-0 lead.
- No goals were scored in the fourth quarter to bring the final score to 3-0 in favour of the Vikes.

- The Vikes finish round robin play at the U SPORTS championships with a 3-0 record, securing a spot in the gold medal game.
- Madeline Mittelsteadt's goal marks her third of the year and first at the national tournament.
- Anni Kleinshcmidt has scored in the last four games for the Vikes, and in all three national championship games.
- Amanda Adams' goal marked her second of the tournament.
- The Vikes have outscored their opponents 10-0 through three games at the U SPORTS championships.
- Victoria move to 8-1-2 on the year with the win.
