Swim finishes sixth, 10th at U SPORTS Championships

Montreal, Que. – The University of Victoria swimming teams finished in sixth and 10th places on the women's and men's sides, respectively, to close the 2024 U SPORTS Championships, March 9 at the Pointe Claire Aquatic Centre.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Ricky Millns set his second Vikes record in as many days, becoming the first Vike to go sub-50 seconds in the men's 100 free with a time of 49.94 in the prelims. He bested teammate Jacob Rambo's previous record of 50.12 set at the 2023 U SPORTS Championships. Millns swam 52.83 in the C Final to finish 23rd overall in the event.
  • Earning a spot in the women's 200 back A Final after tying for sixth in the prelims, Lauren Crisp finished fifth overall in the finals with a time of 2:18.88.
  • Qualifying for the women's 50 breast B Final with a 15th place finish in the prelims, Erin Epp improved one spot to finish 14th overall in the event, clocking in at 33.81 in the finals.
  • Sneaking in to the men's 200 back C Final with a 24th-place prelims showing, Ryan Murphy won the C Final to take 17th overall in the event with a time of 2:10.33.
  • Leading the way for the Vikes in the distance event were Corah Wilson in the women's 800 free and Elijah Agostinelli Stull in the men's 1500 free. Wilson posted the top Vikes finish on the women's side of 16th overall with a time of 9:17.37, while Agostinelli Stull led the men's side with a seventh-place, 16:08.50 performance.
  • Closing out the meet with the 400 medley relays, the Vikes women's squad of Crisp, Epp, Isabella Brunoro and Amanda McCallum finished in fifth place with a time of 4:22.43, while the men's side of Murphy, Evan Stebner, Matthew MacDonald, and Millns finished in 12th place at 3:54.12.
  • As teams, the Vikes women matched their 2023 national championships finish with a sixth place finish, while the Vikes' men's side finished 10th overall.
