VICTORIA - The University of Victoria men's and women's soccer teams learned their 2024 schedules, June 24, as Canada West released the fall fixtures for the upcoming season.
The Vikes' men's team, coming off an 11-5-2 campaign and appearance in the Canada West playoff semifinals in 2023, begin their season at home against Thompson Rivers and the UBC Okanagan, Aug. 23-25. Victoria will face Fraser Valley and Trinity Western, Sept. 6-7, Saskatchewan, Sept. 15, and UBC, Oct. 10, at Centennial Stadium during reigning Canada West Coach of the Year
Larry Stefanek's third year at the helm of the program. The top four teams from the pacific will host the opening rounds of postseason play with the conference quarterfinals and semifinals, Oct. 25-27, with the highest remaining pacific team hosting the gold medal match, Oct. 31-Nov. 2. The top two teams from Canada West will head to Ontario Tech for the U SPORTS Championships, Nov. 7-10.
The Vikes' women's team enters the 2024 season after making their first appearance at the Canada West Final Four since 2017 following an 10-5-3 season in 2023. The women's side opens the season on the road, facing Mount Royal, Aug. 29, before hosting UBC and UNBC at Centennial Stadium in their home-opening weekend, Sept. 6-8.
Tracy David's squad will face off against Fraser Valley and Trinity Western, Sept. 27-29, Mount Royal, Oct. 12, and UBCO and Thompson Rivers, Oct. 18-20, at Centennial Stadium during fall action. The top two pacific seeds will host the Canada West quarterfinals, Oct. 25-27, while the highest prairie seed hosts the Final Four, Oct. 31-Nov. 2. The 2024 U SPORTS Championships will be hosted by Dalhousie in Halifax, N.S.
