Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria men's basketball team falls to the University of Regina 81-76, Nov. 15 at CARSA Performance Gym.
Regina grabbed an early lead and pulled away in the first half.
- The Cougars came out scorching while the Vikes had struggles, creating a wide scoring gap early in the game.
- After the first quarter, the Cougars held on to a 14-point lead.
- The second was more of the same as Regina extended their lead further. The score was 55-33 as the squads headed to their locker rooms for halftime.
The Vikes fought back in the third.
- The Vikes began to find their rhythm in the third quarter. Their strong play cut the Cougars' lead to 69-55 with one quarter left to play.
Robinson, Smid, and the Vikes showed their resiliency.
- Victoria had captured all the momentum. With seven minutes left to play, Renoldo Robinson continued to be the scorer the Vikes needed. Their extended offensive run had the Vikes looking at a 10-point deficit.
- Shadynn Smid got the arena on their feet as he forced back-to-back turnovers, leading to four points on the offensive end. Smid's smart play cut the lead to six points.
- The comeback fell just short as Regina held on to their slim lead to win 81-76.
