Last Weekend Recap:
- Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria men's basketball team took down the University of British Columbia Okanagan 103-71 on Oct. 31.
- The Vikes came out strong as they quickly captured a ten-point lead with their tough defence and strong shooting.
- The Vikes were shooting 60.5% as a team in the first half, a large part of why they led 60-37 as the game headed for halftime.
- The Vikes refused to cool down as the bench came in to score 53 points.
- The story of the second half was Ryan Gallagher. Gallagher came off the bench to shoot perfectly from the field (9/9). His nine made baskets made him the scoring leader for the Vikes with his 20 points.
- The Vikes shut down the Heat in the fourth, holding them to 15 points as a team.
- In game two, the men's basketball team continued their winning way as the Vikes defeated the University of British Columbia Okanagan 95-62.
- Victoria started the game on fire, outscoring the Heat 32-16 in the first quarter. Their defence continued to stifle the Heat's offence as they were held to only seven made baskets.
- The second quarter was more of the same. The Vikes once again outscored the Heat, in large part due to their stellar shooting from behind the arc. The Vikes headed for the locker room with a 56-27 lead.
- The Vikes continued to stretch their lead in the second half. The productivity off the bench was a driving factor in the Vikes' huge win. The bench provided 58 of the 95 Vikes' points.

- The Vikes have won their last ten matchups against the UBC Thunderbirds, the longest winning streak amongst these two teams in Victoria's program history.

Last Weekend Recap:
- The University of Victoria bested the University of British Columbia Okanagan 67-47 for their first win of the season, Oct. 31.
- The Vikes came out hot as they jumped out to an early lead over the Heat. The first quarter ended with the Vikes playing tenacious defence and dominating the glass as they were ahead 18-7.
- The Heat began to pick it up as their shots began to fall in the second quarter, and they cut into what once was up to a Vikes' 20-point lead.
- Abigail Becker was highlighted in the second half, as she shot 4-5 from the field for a Vikes-high nine points. Makena Anderson dominated on the glass as she corralled 6 rebounds.
- The Vikes headed to the locker room with a 33-22 halftime lead over the Heat.
- The Vikes played strongly in the second half, limiting UBCO to 25 total points.
- The game was put away with the Vikes' fourth quarter play as they held the Heat to nine points while scoring 15 of their own.
- Becker continued her strong play as she finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
- In game two, the Vikes' team came up clutch to defeat the University of British Columbia Okanagan 78-76, Nov. 1.
- The Vikes continued their strong play from their game yesterday against UBCO, as they jumped out to an early 26-20 lead as the first quarter came to an end.
- The Heat battled back as they started to drain their shots from beyond the arc. The Heat cut the Vikes' lead to 46-40 as the teams headed to their locker rooms for halftime.
- Â The shooting success for both teams slowed in the third quarter as Victoria shot 16.7% while UBCO shot 15.8%.
- Â With ten seconds left, the Heat converted a game-tying three-point play.
- The game-tying play set the stage for Mimi Sigue. Sigue fought for position in the paint and nailed the go-ahead basket with six seconds left.
- Mimi Sigue was not done with her game-winning plays. On the ensuing Heat inbound play, Sigue stole the pass and secured the Vikes' victory.

Canada West Championship Recap:
- The Vikes completed the team title sweep as they were crowned champions in both the men's and women's divisions. This is the Vikes' time winning both team titles in the same year since the 2012-13 season. The women's team defended their Canada West title, claiming their 23rd win in program history. The men's team claimed their 16th Canada West team title, first since the 2015-16 season.
- On the men's side, Jaxon Kuchar dominated as he led from start to finish. Kuchar displayed an impressive motor as he continued to pull away from his competition as the race progressed. This gold medal was Kuchar's first Canada West Championship podium finish. Ian McAllister joined Kuchar on the podium as he separated from the pack to capture the bronze medal.
- On the women's side, Madelyn Eybergen, bronze medalist at last year's U SPORTS Championships, hung with UBCO's Lauren McNeil for the entirety of the race before McNeil pulled away during the home stretch. Eybergen's silver medal was her best finish at the Canada West Championships and helped propel the Vikes to their second women's team title in a row.
