Vikes suffer first loss to Thunderbirds

Box Score Vancouver, BC – The University of Victoria men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season, 93-87, to the University of British Columbia, Nov. 7 at War Memorial Gym.
 
UBC came out hot, but Victoria cut down their lead at halftime
  • UBC came out and scored at a high rate in the first quarter. The T-Birds scored 30 points in the first, a feat not often seen.
  • With UBC holding a 30-21 lead after the first quarter, the Vikes fought back, cutting the lead to 49-47 as the game hit halftime.
 
The Vikes' shooting woes continued into the second half
  • The Vikes' shooting hindered their ability to overtake UBC in the second half.
  • Ethan Boag was a bright spot for Victoria as he led the way with 30 points and 6 rebounds.
 
Notables
  • Ethan Boag's 30 points are a new career high in his fifth year as a Vike.
  • Renoldo Robinson led the Vikes on the glass as he recorded 11 rebounds.
  • With the loss, the Vikes fall to 4-1 on the season while the Thunderbirds improve to 3-2.
