VICTORIA – The University of Victoria women's basketball team erased a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to complete the sweep of Thompson Rivers University in overtime, 80-78, Feb. 8 at CARSA Performance Gym.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
First quarter Vikes lead erased by WolfPack in second quarter
	- The Vikes used a Meike Boerstra jumper, Karis de Paiva three, and Abigail Becker layup to take a 7-2 lead in the first with 6:40 still on the clock.
- A pair of Tegan Michel free throws grew the Vikes' lead to 13-6 with 2:17 to play in the opening quarter.
- TRU scored seven points to the Vikes' two in the final minutes to bring UVic's lead down to 15-13 at the end of the first.
- An 18-4 run by the WolfPack opened the second quarter scoring, giving the visiting side a 30-19 lead until a Michel jumper followed by a Jenna Talib three-pointer put points on the board for the Vikes, 30-24, with 4:46 to go until halftime.
- Victoria was outscored 29-12 in the second quarter, trailing Thompson Rivers 42-27 at the break.
Vikes erase double-digit deficit in second half
	- A 12-4 run for the Vikes capped by a Becker layup brought the Vikes within seven, 46-39, with five and a half minutes to play in the third.
- Boerstra's layup would be met by one of the WolfPack's in the final minute of the third to give Thompson Rivers the 58-48 lead after 30 minutes of play.
- Victoria scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter, seeing back-to-back three's from Jade Dittmer and a de Paiva layup to pull the Vikes within two, 58-56, with eight minutes to play.
- After a WolfPack bucket, jumpers from Becker and Natalie Allison brought the game even, 60-60, with just under six minutes to go in the final quarter.
- A TRU layup put the visiting side ahead, 71-70, with 30 seconds to go, but a free throw from Allison in the final seconds tied the game, 71-71, to send it to overtime.
Vikes don't relinquish lead in overtime
	- Boerstra's jumper gave the Vikes a 73-71 lead in the opening possession of overtime.
- Victoria took a five-point lead, 80-75, on a pair of free throws by Allison. Though the WolfPack scored the final three points of the frame, the Vikes' lead held and secured the 80-78 win for the home side.
WORTH NOTING
	- Abigail Becker led the Vikes with a career-high 30 points, adding 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the year. Becker's 30 points tie for second-most in a single Canada West game this season. She added three steals, two assists, and two blocks for the Vikes in the win.
- Jade Dittmer set a new season-high for the second night in a row, this time tallying 15 points along with a season-high six rebounds to go with two steals and two assists in the win.
- Karis de Paiva added 10 points, seven rebounds, and a team-high seven assists for the Vikes.
- Victoria improves to 11-7 on the season with the win, while Thompson Rivers falls to 1-19 with the loss.
