Langley, BC – The University of Victoria women's basketball team emerged victorious over Trinity Western University in a 62-60 thriller, January 16 at Langley Events Centre.
The Vikes jumped out to an early lead.
- Victoria began the game on fire, with the return of both Mimi Sigue and Abigail Becker making a difference on the glass.
- The Vikes grabbed an early six-point lead as the first quarter ended 17-11.
- The Spartans found their strokes in the second quarter, but the Vikes matched each score as the game hit halftime with the Vikes ahead by five.
Vikes' lead evaporated, but Henderson played hero.
- Neither team flinched out of halftime as both squads continued to play tough, the Vikes fending off each Trinity Western scoring run.
- The Spartans made their push in the fourth quarter, finally taking the lead with six seconds left to play.
- Out of a timeout, the ball was inbounded to Mimi Sigue, who was swarmed at the elbow. Sigue feathered a pass cross court to Eden Henderson, who nailed the clutch three-pointer as time expired.
