Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria women's basketball team was defeated by the University of Fraser Valley Cascades 73-57, January 9
th at CARSA Performance Gym.
Points were a premium in the first half.
- The shots were not falling in the first half of 2026 as both squads struggled to find the bottom of the net early.
- Fraser Valley began to find its range and capitalize on opportunities to grab an early seven-point lead as the first quarter ended.
- The Vikes began to turn it up offensively, but so did the Cascades. Fraser Valley further extended its lead to 13 points as the game hit the halfway mark.
The Vikes began to chip away in the third quarter.
- The defensive intensity climbed as the Vikes began to force more turnovers and capitalize on the extra possessions.
- The Vikes were able to cut the Cascades' lead to single digits as the third quarter ended. Fraser Valley carried a 54-46 lead as one quarter remained in the game.
Fraser Valley's lead was too much to overcome
- The Vikes fought hard to close the scoring gap, but the lead the Cascades had built was too large to overcome.

- Makena Anderson led the Vikes in scoring with her 19 points.
- Iva Kalabric dominated on the glass as she collected 10 rebounds to lead the Vikes.

th, in a rematch with the Cascades at CARSA Performance Gym.
