Victoria, BC – The University of Victoria men's rugby team continue their quest for the Coastal Cup, defeating the Trinity Western Spartans 54-10 on Oct. 10 at Wallace Field.
The Vikes seized control early and never looked back.
- Jack Marshall opened the scoring six minutes into the match before Jack Driscoll added the conversion to give Victoria a 7-0 lead.
- Keegan Neary crossed the line in the 12th minute as the Vikes doubled their advantage to 14-0.
- Reece Thompson scored a pair of first-half tries, helping Victoria build a commanding 26-0 lead through the opening 25 minutes.
- Trinity Western got on the board in the 34th minute, but the Vikes responded immediately with tries from Alex Gordon and Robert Reid to take a 40-5 lead into halftime.
Victoria's attack continued to roll after the break.
- Marshall added his second try of the afternoon just three minutes into the second half, extending the lead to 47-5.
- Seb Isherwood crossed in the 69th minute, with Driscoll adding the conversion to push the Vikes beyond the 50-point mark
- The Spartans added a late try, but Victoria's defence held firm the rest of the way as the Vikes secured a convincing 54-10 victory.
