Victoria, BC - The University of Victoria men's basketball team will host the University of British Columbia in a much-anticipated game for the Canada West Championship on February 27, at CARSA Performance Gym.

Semifinal Recap:

• The Vikes dominated the Alberta Golden Bears 97-74, claiming the first spot in the conference title game.
• Etan Boag led the Vikes in scoring as he went perfect from the field, scoring on all eight of his shots for 21 points.
• Dylan Gage provided big minutes off the bench, scoring 13 points and creating offence when the Vikes needed it most.
• Victoria led from the tipoff and never looked back. Scoring run after scoring run, the Vikes were relentless on both ends of the floor. Alberta fought desperately to try and close the gap and make it a tight game, but each time a Vike stepped up.

 
Finals Preview:

• The UBC Thunderbirds defeated the Winnipeg Wesmen in a thrilling 92-89 overtime semifinal, setting up a date with their provincial rival.
• Victoria and UBC have had a back-and-forth season rivalry, with UBC holding a narrow lead, winning two over the Vikes.
• UBC came to Victoria on Feb. 6 and 7, looking to sweep the Vikes and claim the Canada West Pacific Division title. The Thunderbirds stole the first game, but the Vikes defended their home floor in a thrilling 93-85 win to claim the top spot in the division.
• The two will meet again in what is expected to be a back-and-forth slugfest between two of the nation's best, this time for the Canada West conference title.
