VICTORIA - Canada West hoops fans can officially mark their calendars, as the conference has released its 2026-27 men's and women's basketball schedules.

The Vikes men's and women's basketball teams begin their 2026-27 campaign at home against the University of the Fraser Valley on Oct. 29 before a quick road trip to Trinity Western on Oct. 31. A highly anticipated Canada West men's final rematch is set for Nov. 27, when the T-Birds come to the island to take on the Vikes. The two programs will meet again in Vancouver on Jan. 8 and 9.

Both Vikes teams will once again play a 20-game regular season, with action running through Feb. 13. The Canada West postseason begins Feb. 19 and culminates in the Final Four, Feb. 26-28. ​

The road to a national championship will lead to Halifax this season, as the Scotiabank Centre hosts both the 2027 U SPORTS Men's and Women's Final 8 Basketball Championships in early March. The women's tournament will be hosted by Acadia University, while Dalhousie University will host the men's championship.

The men's team returned to the top of the Canada West mountain last season, capturing their fourth conference title in five seasons with a win over UBC in the Canada West final.

The latest championship further cemented the program's status as one of the conference's most impressive dynasties, while the women are looking to make a playoff push in 2027.
