Shalie Dheensaw

Shalie Dheensaw was named the interim head coach of the women's basketball program in April 6, 2020.

She takes over for Dani Sinclair, who stepped down after eight seasons with the Vikes. The last two of those seasons, Dheensaw served as the lead assistant coach and helped the Vikes achieve a 24-16 record. With her assistance, the Vikes also won one playoff game each year Dheensaw was with the program.

Dheensaw played with Canada Basketball on the U16 and U17 level before playing for the Washington State University Cougars. From 2011-15, she appeared in 112 games and started her final 50 games and finished her career with 535 points, 307 rebounds and 98 blocked shots (fifth-most in WSU history). She also coached the varsity team at Pullman High School, worked as a graduate assistant with the University of Washington Huskies for one season and later served as an assistant coach with the Cougars.

Dheensaw is the eighth head coach of the women's program and at the time she accepted the position, was the youngest head coach in all of U SPORTS at 26-years-old.

While at Washington State University, Dheensaw earned a Bachelors of Arts degree with a major in Human Development and a certificate in Early Childhood Education. She continued her studies at the University of Washington, where she obtained her Master of Education in July, 2017, with a cumulative GPA of 3.58.

Dheensaw had the pleasure of working with her sister, Marissa, for the past two seasons. Marissa graduated the program last spring, but both local sisters thoroughly enjoyed working together at the U SPORTS level.
