Dinos hit century mark in win over UVic

CALGARY - Three UVic Vikes women's basketball players established new scoring highs, but unfortunately their record night came in a losing effort. The Calgary Dinos took a 103-91 victory at the Holiday Hoops Tournament.

BOXSCORE

#Kayla Dykstra# tallied 35 points, shooting 15-18 from the field, in her Calgary homecoming. The Calgary Christian graduate eclipsed her previous high of 33 points, which was set of February 2, 2009.

#Debbie Yeboah# and #Carmen Lapthorne# also set new personal benchmarks with 21 points apiece. Lapthorne made five three-pointers and Yeboah was a perfect 10-10 at the free-throw line. The Vikes shot 51.6 percent from the field and the 91 points represented their highest scoring total since the 2004 season opener.

Calgary, meanwhile, connected on 57.9 percent of their shots and also made 13 three-pointers. In the third quarter alone, the Dinos netted 32 points to retake the lead and take an eight-point lead into the final frame. Six Calgary scorers reached double figures, led by 21 points from Katie Beard.

The Vikes will wrap-up their three-game set at the Holiday Hoops Tournament on Wednesday against the undefeated Winnipeg Wesmen. Winnipeg has won both their games in tournament play, but suffered a 60-50 loss to UVic in conference play earlier this year.
