VICTORIA - The last time the UVic Vikes women's field hockey team played at home, they won their record-tying 11th CIS Championship. This weekend they host the Calgary Dinos for their first home games of 2009.
GAME INFORMATION
Sat. Oct. 3 vs. Calgary Dinos (UVic Turf Field) – 11am
Sun. Oct. 4 vs. Calgary Dinos (UVic Turf Field) – 11am
SCOUTING THE VIKES
The defending champs are 1-2-1 this season after opening conference play with road series at Alberta and UBC. The Vikes are hoping the return home can spark the offence, which has only produced one goal thus far. #Kaitlyn Williams#, the 2007 CIS Rookie of the Year, has been brilliant in goal with two shutouts to her credit.
SCOUTING THE DINOS
The Dinos drew first blood in both their games last weekend against the Alberta Pandas, which they parlayed into a weekend split. The Dinos currently sit in fourth place with three points and have an overall record of 1-3-0. Star defender Carolina Romeo is the sister of Vikes men's soccer player Miguel.
HEAD TO HEAD
The two teams have not met since last October when the Vikes dealt the Dinos a 2-0 season-ending loss. UVic won the season series 3-1.
