MRUG PREVIEW: Vikes vs Cowichan

VICTORIA – After a bye week and two games on the road, the UVic Vikes men's rugby team returns to Wallace Field in hopes of downing the Cowichan Piggies to edge closer to a Barnard Cup berth.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
When these two sides met earlier in September, the Vikes narrowly escaped Herd Road with a 34-27 victory. UVic has not lost to Cowichan in their last 13 encounters.

SCOUTING THE VIKES (3-2)
Sitting second in the Elite Division standings, the Vikes will look to distance themselves from third-place Velox, who trail by a single point. #Phil Mack# has led the offensive output this season scoring 38 of UVic's 146 points. Speedster #Willem Du Plessis# has been dangerous on the wings and boasts a league-best five tries.

SCOUTING THE PIGGIES (0-4)

The young Piggies have struggled against Island competition this fall, going winless in the first half of the season. Their defence ranks third in the division, conceding 147 points in four matches. Their offence, however, as been unable to gain momentum with just 83 points to their credit. Peter Budina tops Cowichan's scoring charts with three tries, two penalties and four conversions for a total of 29 points.
