VICTORIA – The UVic Vikes men's rugby team came within one point of their single game scoring record on Saturday afternoon, downing the Cowichan Piggies 97-15.

Vikes winger #Willem DuPlessis# went over three times and now tops the VIRU Elite Divison scoring charts with eight tries to his credit.

#Bryn Keys# notched four tries while #Sean Duke# and #Tye Hamblin# each recorded the brace. Tries also came courtesy of #Michael Fuailefeau#, #Struan Robertson#, #Casey Cavers# and #Dustin Dobravsky#.

#Nathan Hirayama#, who departs for Canada's tour to Europe on Monday, slotted ten conversions to record 20 points.

The win sees the Vikes (4-2) claim a crucial bonus point as they head into their final two games of the season. Next up, the Vikes travel to Oak Bay to face off against the Castaway-Wanderers at Windsor Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:45pm on Saturday, November 6th.
