Ontario champs deal Vikes 65-45 loss

EDMONTON - The defending Ontario champions, and 2009 CIS finalists, Windsor Lancers dealt the UVic Vikes women's basketball team a 65-45 loss on day two of the Pandas Invitational.

The Vikes struggled to find any offensive rhythm under Windsor's stringent defence, shooting just 38 percent and also failing to produce quality chances from the perimeter. The Vikes also committed 26 turnovers.

#Sarah Semeniuk# came off the bench to lead UVic in scoring, shooting 5-for-7 and finishing with 11 points. #Vanessa Forstbauer# led amongst starters with nine points, and #Kayla Dykstra# added seven points.

Windsor's Jessica Clemencon netted the game's scoring high with 18 points on 7-for-8 shooting. The 6-foot-3 post from France earned CIS Rookie of the year honours last season after averaging 15.6 points and 7.3 rebounds.

On Sunday the Vikes will close out the Pandas Invitational against the Laurentian Voyaguers. Laurentian is the last team from outside the Canada West to win the national crown, as the Voyageurs won their seventh Bronze Baby in 1991.
