VICTORIA - The no. 2 UVic Vikes women's basketball team scored the game's first 19 points, and easily handled the Manitoba Bisons 86-40 to complete the weekend sweep on Saturday night.

Four Vikes players reached double digit scoring totals, and Brian Cheng's squad ran their conference record to 6-0.
Debbie Yeboah celebrated her 20th birthday by scoring 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting. The All-Star guard, who was the Manitoba High School Player of the Year in 2008, also added four assists and three steals.
Kayla Dykstra held the scoring high, leading the onslaught with 18 points and also picking up 10 rebounds.
Sarah Semeniuk came off the bench to score 15 and record six 'boards, and
Vanessa Forstbauer went for 13 points and eight rebounds.
Almost seven minutes elapsed before the Bisons scored their first points of the game. The Vikes knocked down seven of their first eight attempts from the floor, and wound up leading by 20 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime UVic led 42-12.
If there was a bright spot for Manitoba it was the play of rookie guard Sheree Carmona-Galdamez who came off the bench to score 12 points before fouling out. Fellow rookie Allison Balasko scored six points in a reserve role, adding six 'boards.
The Vikes will take their undefeated conference record to the mainland next weekend when they face the Fraser Valley Cascades.
